Learning the art of packing for a short or long trip can be tricky! This should not be a difficult task, as long as you are prepared and organized. After over-packing and overweight suitcases and carry-on baggage’s I had to figure out a way to get it right. It is always difficult to know how much to take, as well as how to fit it all in your suitcase. But, you can learn the art of rolling and folding your clothes, in order to maximize your space and increase the number of outfits you can wear on vacation. I like to have set outfits for each day/occasion and then two or three options just in case your not in the mood to wear the outfit I had picked out. However, the key to options is to make sure that they can mix and match with whatever your bringing along with you so your not overwhelmed with how all of these clothes are going to fit into your suitcase.

First thing you want to do is check the weather of your destination. Then you can pull out all of your clothes that are weather appropriate. This is the time I like to try to pick clothes out that you haven’t worn in a while and create new looks, so it seems like you bought new clothes but you really different. Another important tip is try to stay in the same color pallet. Trust me, it makes it a lot easier to pack less bags, shoes and accessories. Now the fun part is playing dress up! I like to mix and match and see what I can come up with. How comfortable is the outfit? Is it going to wrinkle? Can I pair this with anything else?

New York Fashion Week Fall 12′: J. Crew

J.Crew presented their Fall 2012 Collection yesterday at the

Lincoln Center sending a slew of fashion industry insiders

crazy over the collection. Not only were the clothes beautiful,

but a shoe collaboration with Manolo Blahnik! I can’t wait to

get my hands on a pair of those classic suede pointed-toe

pumps!

Fall 2012 marks J.Crew’s second season on the New York calendar — but the buzz surrounding the brand’s Fashion Week presentation is already on par with that of some of the city’s highest-end designers. This morning’s Lincoln Center presentation was not only elbows-in packed, it was also attended by some of the industry’s most-loved tastemakers. In the space of just a few minutes, we spotted Anna Dello Russo, Giovanna Battaglia, Joe Zee, and Derek Blasberg all making the rounds.

The fashion cred is well-deserved, especially this season. Newly-appointed head of women’s design Tom Mora has delved deep into the J.Crew archives and come back with some refreshing — and modern — takes on the classics. There were pencil skirts in high-gloss satin and python, crew necks in bold intarsia knits, and cropped trousers in patterned jacquard. A lovely botanical print added charm to silk pants and tops, while a tonal, colorblocked coat is sure to be a hit.

As if that weren’t enough, the brand has also collaborated with Manolo Blahnik on a series of BB pumps. The shoes will be sold online in several J.Crew-exclusive colors and patterns this Fall.

The Valentino Garavani Virtual Museum

Valentino Garavani is expected to unveil what he is describing as a “virtual museum” this morning with a to-do at the Museum of Modern Art. (Anne Hathaway is presenting, along with Amit Sood, the creator of the Google Art Project.)

Giancarlo Giammetti, the designer’s longtime partner, gave me a preview on Friday, and let me tell you, without sounding too gushy, it’s spectacular. While a lot of designers have been opening self-aggrandizing museums of late (think of Gucci’s new digs in Florence), the Valentino Garavani Virtual Museum is a desktop application that has the look and feel of a video game, and yet presents roughly 300 of Valentino’s iconic designs in a way that is far more elegant than a physical museum could ever hope to be. Versace for H&M party

Last night, the Versace for H&M collection was launched at a celebrity packed event in New York!

Jessica Alba, Blake Lively, Alexander Wang, Linda Evangelista, Emma Roberts, Uma Thurman and Ke$ha joined Donatella Versace at the specially designed building on the Hudson River in New York.

Over 500 specially invited guests entered the world of Versace already on the red carpet. At the specially designed building on the Hudson River, Donatella Versace was joined by Jessica Alba, Blake Lively, Alexander Wang, Linda Evangelista, Emma Roberts, Uma Thurman, Chace Crawford and many many others. The Versace for H&M collection was shown on the catwalk alongside with some iconic pieces created just for this exclusive show. A second scene in this fabulous venue was entered by Prince and Nicki Minaj who gave an exclusive consert. A glamorous after-party followed in true Versace style for hours…
