Christian Louboutin lipstick | Altuzarra dress | OPI nail polish | Chanel clutch | J. Crew heels
This past weekend I attended a friends wedding. I didn’t plan a to buy a new dress for the occasion because I figured that I would wear something I already own. However, I was compelled to shop for a new dress. When shopping for anything that is for a specific occasion I always have in the back of my mind: Will I wear this again and is it possible to layer or make a completely new outfit out of this item? If I can answer yes, to those two questions then I’m all for buying. One thing I don’t want to do is buy something I’ll never wear again.
When I spotted this Altuzarra dress I knew I had to have it. I had been coveting it since I seen it on the runway. Now normally tend totally impulse buy when It’s something I’ve been coveting. However, this dress will play many roles in my wardrobe for upcoming seasons and events.
For my friends wedding I went simple with a pair of sandal sides and a clutch. I know many people shy away from stripes but when designed correctly and the right proportions, stripes can be very flattering. When shopping for dresses always keep in mind that patterns/prints are easier for weddings if you are worried about clashing with the theme colors or the bridesmaids. I always go for a form fitting dress because of my body type, I only like things that will flatter my curves and make me look slimmer.
Now once the weather cools down I can easily change this dress up by layering! Today I’ve added my favorite cropped turtleneck, a hat and my go to over-the-knee boots. To top my look off I added a tassel necklace. I’ve just transitioned this spring dress for fall. When I was trying on this dress I envisioned how I could wear it for fall. Only thing I changed were my shoes. I originally thought I would pair it with to the knee boots but It looks a lot better with the otk style. Fashion should be fun. Experiment with your wardrobe and try to create new looks with items you already own so you can spend more money investing in key pieces for your wardrobe.
