My journey to the Sahara was by far one of the most unforgettable excursions I’ve ever been on. During my trip in Morocco earlier this year me and my friends booked a one night stay with Desert Luxury Camp for glamping in the Sahara desert.
Most places offer a Sahara camping experience however you’re not actually in the Sahara desert. After plenty of research we decided to book with Desert Luxury Camp. We left our riad about 7AM in the morning for a journey through the Atlas mountains through several cities for about 10 hours before we went off-roading through the desert to arrive at our camp just before sunset.
Even-though our journey to get here was rough. Riding a camel through the desert to camp was one of the most amazing experiences ever. Our team was amazing. We were greeted by Omar once we arrived. There were welcome snacks and tea.
After sunset we went to the main tent for a community dinner. We met other travelers who had made the same journey and shared our experiences in Morocco over traditional berber food.
After dinner we all went outside for a bonfire. The entire staff played instruments and sang songs. I even got to dance with a few of them.
The next day we woke up at sunrise for breakfast before hitting the road again. Due to weather conditions we had to push back our trip thus making it only a one night stay. I recommend staying two nights so you can fully experience all the activities the camp has to offer. Maybe next time I’ll go sand boarding!
This year has been full of adventures! After reflecting on all my travels I’m excited to start planing my trips for 2019. What were some of your favorite trips you took this year?
