I’m not going to lie. The only reason I was interested in visiting this wine region of Italy was after reading this article about the “New Lake Como” on Vogue.com!
We of course stayed at the L’Albereta in the heart of Franciacorta. This resort was everything you could ask for and more! Among arriving to this ivy masked neo renaissance villa I had high expectations. The lobby was oozing with charm and antique furniture. I couldn’t wait to tour the grounds.
Our first night we had dinner at Cascina Doss. The restaurant was very quiet. We ate dinner outside. The food was good, nothing to rave about.
The next day we had two wine tastings Bellavista and Contadi Castaldi. I don’t know why we booked two in one day but I would highly suggest not to based on how much you’ll be drinking.
The Bellavista tour was everything you could ask for and more. For ninety euros we had a private tour of the grounds with a tasting of four wines including the reserve!
Contadi Castaldi was a nice experience but since we did this tour and tasting after Bellavista it wasn’t as exciting being in a larger group along with having liked Bellavistas wine better.
Each were total different experiences but I enjoyed Bellavista overall more. It was also nice that it was walking distance from our hotel also.
For dinner we opted to stay at our hotel and have a wonderful pasta dinner. It was honestly the best pasta bolognese I’ve ever had!
I’m so happy we chose this as our last stop in Italy to relax and detox before heading to Paris for a week.
