Summer Trend Report: Shoes

Summer always means less clothes and more heat, and granted I am a lover of all things short shorts, tank tops, and ultra colorful bikini’s…it’s the shoes that stand out the most this season.  Here are a few of my current favorites:

The Wedge

I’m obsessed with Boat Shoes! I think the trend is so versatile for any summer outfit – pair a cute pair of Sperry’s with any summer dress or khaki cargo pant and you’ve instantly up’d your entire outfit. That’s why I was so excited when I came across these D&G wedges. The shoe is reminiscent of your everyday boat shoe with a touch of girly sophistication because of the wedge and ankle tie. These shoes are perfect for a weekend on the yacht or a day full of errands. The perfect compliment to any of your summer outfits.

Neon Colors

Neon is everywhere this summer, and if you’re like me, wearing a completely highlighter-esque outfit isn’t exactly something I think I could pull off. So instead, this summer I’ve focused on wearing as many neon accessories that I can find! Belts, bracelets, hats, and especially shoes. Neon kicks can add to ANY outfit, and if you’re wardrobe is substantially black no matter what season it is (chronic black clothing hoarding as I call it) this is the perfect way to pump up your everyday wardrobe.  These ZARA sandals are perfect for summer because the thick heel makes them less formal then your typical fall pump.

The Sneaker

Sneakers haven’t really been something in my “go-to” wardrobe these days. I love the idea of wearing a cool sneaker, but most of the time I’m just throwing them on for the gym and occasional errand running. But this season, women’s sneakers have come back completely reinvented (though I’m not too sure about how I feel with the Heel sneaker trend) this new MIU MIU sneaker is totally worth a shot. The floral print and studded toe make for an oober girly look that adds a ton to your favorite pair of denim summer shorts.

Spike It Up!

I’ve been seeing spikes EVERYWHERE! On loafers, sandals, wedges and even pumps. I love the trend and Giuseppe Zanotti added it to a signature brown flat. The simple design makes it easy for any woman to add a little punk rock to the rather modest ballet flat. This shoe is perfect for someone looking to join in on the spiked trend but not totally ready to transform into a 1980s punk rocker.

The Flat Sandal

The signature summer shoe! What better way to compliment your bright pedicure than by showing your toes off in a pair of adorable sandals? Summer sandals are not at all hard to find and they come in every color, pattern, and style you could imagine. There’s not much more to it, just like the perfect little black dress, you gotta have the perfect pair of summer sandals. Here are a few I love:

1. Aldo Brendle flat

2. Charlotte Olympia Marina sandal

3. Lucky Brand Candra flat

4. Diane von Furstenberg  Klee sandal
